I think we all have good Pro's and Con's points here:salute:.Thanks for the clean debate:thumbsup:

I read somewhere that prone was no good on consoles because the low DPI on consoles,So if anyone was prone on the screen they would become a very small dot.The post i read from someone else said this was the real reason prone was not added. But PC's have much greater resolutions over consoles

I do agree there are more bushes and buildings to hide in:),You can fire a sniper rifle in crouch position but not a support gun though:hmm:

        .
Thats a pretty odd advice. Just because I like to kill and think KDR is a better thing to pursue than "points", doesnt mean I have to drop the game that *I like*. For what its worth, Im always at the flags, defending and capturing them. But I dont need a score or points to keep me doing that, I dont need a carrot on a stick, which apparently you do.

hey, ever thought about winning was just as important if not more than stupid points or kdr?

it makes me wonder how you guys were able to play 1942 without your pts and kdr being tracked.

Just because you do is no indication on how it will actually work on pub servers.

If you don't care about points, then how would changing the score system to focus more on teamwork affect you negatively? BF2 is about more than kills or deaths, it's about working as a team and using your equipment and assets properly, and if points help get that across to the casual player, then we all benefit.

Personal achievement is great, but come on, don't just focus on the points, ratios, and ranks. You should have some good old-fashioned fun when you play video games.

Re: PC Prone poll-Pro`s and Con`s-

that's why i keep saying things were more fun back in 1942 and vietnam days when stat tracking didn't exist. back then many more cared about just winning. who cares if you had a 50:1 kdr in one round? you start fresh as soon as that round ends.

ever since all this stat tracking came into existence, people can't seem to go 10 seconds without scoring. god forbid if we have to sit by and defend a flag and wait more than 30 seconds to face an attacker; we'd go crazy with our ADDs and who can stand their spm taking a dive?

there was a map in 1942, i think El Alamein, where i would love taking the northern outpost flag and bracing myself for an imminent german tank to roll into. sometimes i would have to wait more than 5 minutes to see any sign of enemy but i'll be damned if i let the enemy take that flag. i didn't care if i didn't score for 5 minutes or that i would have to spawn five times to finish off the enemy tank because i wanted to hold the flag and help my team win.

now it's all this spm, kdr, making a big deal out of stats and leaderboards, which in turn invite more hacking and cheating because all the losers want their place in the leaderboards and want the highest ranking! :shakehead:

too bad some people never experienced the good old days of BF, without the stats nonsense.

I do agree back in the 1942 days i felt like the best in australia lol:laugh:,but then came bf2 and set me staight:p.In the early days some had 1 million points in the first 6 months by sharing thier account or hacking. The humble grunt like me couldnt compete with that.

The reason i play mostly IO now is so my kills are higher than my deaths:cry:

when bf2 came out i was against the stats because everyone could feel like a champ, also i thought it would premote more points hacking

nothing worse than seeing you died more than you killed but lets not get off track here guys:salute:

Thats probably why you have a stats signature?

How is playing for winning any less stupid than playing for score, points, KDR? Oh wait, maybe its all about your own small set objectives, and when you reach those, your fun factor from the game increases?

Like I said. Im at the forefront of the action. I dont baserape, I dont go for "cheap score" and I dont care for numbers. KDR represents my skill level, and when I see it being above the majority of the players, then its a personal victory for me. Especially when Im playing against a stacked team, where winning a round is long out of the question.

Your comments do not take the context of the argument into account.

it makes me wonder how you guys were able to play 1942 without your pts and kdr being tracked.
I dont have a stat signature showing off my e-peen. Ive never showed off anything score related here. Even now I play games with no stat tracking and I had multiple BF2 accounts because progressive stats tracking was not important for me, and I saw it as a root of all evil in videogames. How did you reach to a conclusion that I only play for stats, is beyond me. But still, the fact that you have that signature is still funny.

Quote me on where I said it did. Please do.

                          Here is what I wrote:

Points dont solve a thing. When Im in a game, its not the points Im after, its the KDR. If you want people to focus on objectives, get rid of the scorescreen altogether. But this will just make most of the public players mad.
Which is why I brought L4D in as an example. L4D doesnt use progressive stats tracking and no personal victory except for winning a round (without a statistical mark you can see by pressing TAB) means thats the only thing a person can go after.

If you don't care about points, then how would changing the score system to focus more on teamwork affect you negatively?
Learn to read the previous posts to get the context. Right now youre selectively responding and taking a stab at a poster. Its rather irritating to spoonfeed you with responses just because you want to feel your own little personal victory here.

BF2 is about more than kills or deaths, it's about working as a team and using your equipment and assets properly, and if points help get that across to the casual player, then we all benefit.
Wait, I thought it was about fun .

                          lulz were had...

Did he ever say he did?
Considering you show a habbit of ignoring earlier posts- yes he did. Promoting teamwork through rewarding it with score. I like it how youre ignoring the context of the posts and cant read between the lines. The main argument between me and him was that he thought that when a player raised his own personal goals within the game (like me, with KDR), he immediately thought that the player is not fit to play a "team objective game" like BF2, and either should be paying attention for other score, or move on to another game.

I think you've taken this a bit too personally. I thought we were having a discussion and not an argument?

With regards to your comment I was only making a suggestion. There was no malice intended and I think it was a fair question given your comments about K/D ratio. We all play the game for our own reasons whether it be fun, K/D ratio, team play, etc. It just seemed strange to me that you would play a team based game when you obviously were more interested in your own K/D ratio than helping the team.

I don't need a "carrot" to play this game I was making a suggestion for the community and not myself. You seem to have forgotten that this discussion was about prone and my suggestion was related to that and how we could avoid removing prone from the game without players camping all the time.

Also please don't put "words in my mouth". I never said a player was not fit to play the game because he had other objectives than team play. Quote me all you like but dont make things up I never said.

A discussion would result in a solution to a problem. We are simply solving a mutual disagreement.

Theres nothing strange about it. Youre convinced that a player cant do both. Go for the intended objectives and at the same time have some of his/her own. The whole BF experience starting with BF2 was actually set up this way. And I corrected you twice, by saying that you always see me at the flags.

Whether its KDR, SPM, KPM, ribbons, score or medals, a player can do the tasks the game ecpects him to do, and at the same time fulfill his own set objectives.

Thats the way the topic went, Im afraid. I was giving examples of how the PC version of BFBC2 already has everything in place to accomodate for prone, without the game slowing down, because the PC version wont have to deal with issues the console versions do.

Also please don't put "words in my mouth". I never said a player was not fit to play the game because he had other objectives than team play. Quote me all you like but dont make things up I never said.
Youve asked me twice to move on to another game. In your opinion, since I have a few personal goals in my games to squeeze more fun out the game, Im not fit to play a team-objectived game.
